Donated Cherry Blossom Trees to University of Ljubljana, Slovenia
On Wednesday, December 7, 2022, Vice President Masaru Iwasaki visited the University of Ljubljana (UL)in Slovenia, and participated in the tree-planting ceremony for cherry trees donated by the University of Yamanashi (UY).
This event was as part of events commemorating the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Slovenia and Japan.
Gregor Majdic, President of UL, Hiromichi Matsushima, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Slovenia, and about 30 other people attended the ceremony.
At the ceremony, Vice President Iwasaki said, “I hope that students, teachers, and all staff of UL will enjoy cherry blossoms in spring, and this will be an opportunity to further deepen relationships between the two universities.”
On the day before the ceremony, the meeting was held with the Deans of the respective UL, and Vice President Xiaoyang Mao and Professor Toru Okuda (the Faculty of Life and Environmental Sciences) participated it on line.
The donated cherry blossom trees by UY were planted with commemorative plaques in the gardens at UL.
They will bloom beautifully in spring and become healing places for students.
