Title: President NAKAMURA Kazuhiko with delegates from the University of Yamanashi visited Hangzhou Dianzi University in China, to attend the opening ceremony of the Master’s dual-degree program
From Tuesday, October 31st to Friday, November 3rd, 2023, President NAKAMURA Kazuhiko with delegates from the University of Yamanashi (UY) made a courtesy visit to Hangzhou Dianzi University (HDU) in China. Secretary General WANG Shujing and President ZHU Zhefei of HDU extended a worm welcome to the visiting delegates from UY.
On November 1st, the opening ceremony of the dual master’s degree program was held, with President ZHU Zhefei of HDU and President NAKAMURA Kazuhiko delivering the opening remarks, followed by the opening ceremony, commemorative tree planting, and the unveiling of a memorial monument.
The delegation from UY visited the advanced remote laboratory at the School of Electronics, as well as the Brain Machine Interface (BMI) laboratory at the School of Computer Science. There, they received detailed presentations on cutting-edge research and engaged in discussions with the respective experts.
Since an inter-university exchange agreement was signed in 2008, UY and HDU have actively participated in faculty and student exchanges. In 2018, UY introduced a dual master’s degree program in Computer Science and Engineering with HDU, enabling students to study and research at both universities while receiving guidance from faculty members of both universities, and to obtain master’s degrees from both universities.
On this occasion, UY has also established a dual degree program in the electrical and electronic engineering course of the master’s degree program with HDU, making it possible for students to obtain master’s degrees from both universities. This will lead to more active exchanges between students and faculty members of both universities and promote collaboration in education and research.
