Dr. Niva Sthapit, Research Assistant Professor at Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, received the Best Presenter Award at the ICLEE2024
Dr. Niva Sthapit, Research Assistant Professor at Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, received the Best Presenter Award at the 14th Conference of International Consortium of Landscape and Ecological Engineering (ICLEE2024) held at Kyushu Institute of Technology (Kitakyushu, Japan) from October 4 (Fri) to 6 (Sun), 2024.
This award is given to young researchers who give excellent oral presentations, and five out of 50 young researchers were awarded this time.
The title of Dr. Sthapit’s presentation is “Temporal analysis of microbial source tracking markers in environmental DNA using multiplex digital PCR.” In this study, research on microbial source tracking was conducted to identify the sources of animal fecal contamination in river water collected over a five-year period in Yamanashi Prefecture.
Dr. Sthapit said, “I am grateful to be one of the recipients of the Best Presenter Award during ICLEE 2024. This was only possible thanks to the continuous guidance and kindness of Dr. Sakiko Yaegashi and Prof. Eiji Haramoto, and I would like to express my deepest gratitude to them. I also extend my heartfelt thanks to my seniors and lab members for their support at the laboratory, and my friends and family for their unwavering support and encouragement. I believe that the method developed in this study will enable us to visualize the sources of pollution in river water and propose countermeasures to reduce the pollution level. This recognition motivates me to continue striving for excellence and contributing high impact research to our field.”
