Members of the House of Representatives Visit the Institute of Enology and Viticulture
On Saturday, July 30, 2022, Mr. Masahiko Shibayama and Mr. Masaaki Akaike, members of the house of representatives visited Visit the Institute of Enology and Viticulture.
First, they were guided by Professor. Shunji Suzuki, Director of the Institute of Enology and Viticulture, through the wine cellar newly built in April this year, the sensory testing room, and the instrument analysis room equipped with instruments for analyzing the taste and aroma of wines.
Afterwards, they tried tasting “Koshu Wine 2021,” “Muscat Baily A Wine 2021,” “Port Wine 1981,” and “Brandy 1968,” all of which were brewed by the University of Yamanashi students.
In addition, both of them and university officials exchanged opinions on “the recent situation surrounding Yamanashi Prefecture and domestic wine,” “deregulation for marketing (commercialization) of the university-brewed wine,” and “promotion of the industry-academia-government collaboration projects through wine and revitalization of the local region. “
