Faculty and Students from the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia, Visit Robotics and AI Research Labs at the Faculty of Engineering
On September 5, 2023, a delegate of 22 guests, led by Professor Marko Muni of the University of Ljubljana, visited University of Yamanashi.
University of Yamanashi and the University of Ljubljana signed a General Exchange Agreement in September 2017 and a Student Exchange Agreement in June 2018. The purpose of this visit was to promote exchanges and collaboration in robotics and AI research fields.
On the day of the visit, President Kazuhiko Nakamura offered welcome greetings, followed by a tour of the Satoshi Omura Memorial Museum. The group also visited the Department of Mechatronics and the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, both within the Faculty of Engineering.
Faculty and students from the Department of Mechatronics and the Department of Computer Science and Engineering guided the group through demonstrations of “Satocchan,” a voice-interactive robot that guides visitors through the exhibits, a “walking assist robot,” a “SCARA (horizontally articulated robot) prototype,” “four SCARA (horizontally articulated robot) models,” and “smart glasses for agriculture.”
The students from the University of Ljubljana showed great interest in the demos and posed many questions, making the visit a meaningful opportunity for exchanging ideas and opinions about research on robotics and AI.
