Ms. Annisa Andarini Ruti, a second-year master’s course student of Special Educational Program on River Basin Environmental Science in Department of Engineering (supervisor: Prof. Eiji Haramoto, Interdisciplinary Center for River Basin Environment), received the Best Oral Presentation Award at the 8th International Society for Food and Environmental Virology (ISFEV) Conference held at the Shimadzu Tokyo Innovation Plaza (Kawasaki, Japan) from June 9 (Sun) to 14 (Fri), 2024.
This award is given to young researchers who give excellent oral presentations, and five out of 31 young researchers were awarded.
The title of Ms. Ruti’s presentation is “Host-specific microbial genetic marker performance and its application on tracking fecal contamination in a river in West Java, Indonesia. In this study, research on microbial source tracking was conducted to identify fecal contamination sources in river water in Bandung, Indonesia, by detecting host-specific microbial genetic markers.
Ms. Ruti said, “I am deeply honored and humbled to have received the Best Oral Presentation Award. This achievement reflects the great support and guidance from my supervisor, Prof. Eiji Haramoto, and my laboratory members, who provided valuable feedback during the preparation. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to meet experts at this conference and learn from them. It was a wonderful experience to share our research and make connections across countries. This recognition inspires me to keep striving for excellence and making meaningful contributions to our field.”
